Guide to people, places and business of central Illinois
Support Area 217 Business
Unlike Area 51, a place of secrets, the purpose of Area 217 is to reveal them. There's a lot going on in central Illinois. I'll tell you a little about the people, places and things that make it a great place to live, work, play, worship and do business. As we move towards Thanksgiving, lets remember all we have to be thankful for. Explore all that is central Illinois and what it has to offer.

You often hear the call to 'buy American'. Let's expand that to 'support local business' We create needed jobs with local economic activity. Think globally if you want but acting local is what gets the job done. Support established business and encourage new ones. That's what built America!

In times of concern, notice I didn't say "fear", we should proceed cautiously but with confidence in ourselves, the people. We've been here before. This isn't the first downturn we've experienced. Did you know prosperity has followed every major recession? That's because we don't quit. We knuckle down, work hard and accomplish great things. We're not afraid of hard work or hard times. Our love of country, family and a resolute trust in God won't fail. And we'll do it again! We are the economy.

I like Italian food. Maybe your favorite originated at my Uncle Louie's hotel on the Isle of Capri. Well, it would be a good story, huh? Closer to home is Nikki Marie's in Urbana, a "family-friendly" Italian restaurant now serving great food. (Oct 24, 2009)    More...

Nancy King (Champaign) - One of the best realtors in the area, a wonderful person and trusted friend. Nancy was an integral part of the "Adventure of Voorhies Castle" which was an eleven year chapter in my not so usual life. She shared the love of that old place and piqued my interest in restoring it to life. More about that later.

What I can say is that in good times or challenging ones, she is the consummate professional who works tirelessly insuring you find the right property under the right circumstances. She doesn't just sell houses, she facilitates the transfer of homes. She has  been a friend to me and she'll do no less for you. When making the biggest investment of your life, Nancy is just what you need. Years of experience sure help too! (Feb 19, 2009)    More...
