We'll Service Your Older Car And Future Classic

Hudson Hornet  /  Nash Metropolitan

Distinct styling in cars seems to have gone the way of the fifteen cent hamburger and nickel coke. Today they're designed by parameters set into computers and result in an overall sameness in body shape. The best you can hope for is a unique tail light you don't hate. Anything that excites the bloodstream usually comes with a price tag way out of reach.

That good, of course, for many reasons. Modern cars are safe, reliable, low maintenance, offer good performance and fuel economy, but in many cases are simply ... boring. If you'd like to drive something that doesn't look like the car everyone else is driving... if you enjoy tinkering with mechanical things... if you want to try something different... you should consider running a vintage car as your daily driver. There were quite a lot of cars from the past that were efficeint and rolled many miles per gallon before today's onslaught of look-a-likes.

Yes,we can keep your classic car running too!

In Our Shop - 1953 Hudson Hornet

This1953 Hudson Hornet belongs to Gerry, Hanson's owner/ operator for over forty years. Its been in the shop for some general upkeep. The car has caused more than a few questions about work on vintage automobiles. The answer is, "Yes, we can and do!"

The Hornet, introduced in 1951, took the Super Six chassis, refined it and added a significantly more powerful engine. When the 262 cubic inch in-line six-cylinder was bored out to 308 cubic inches, the Hornet became one of the hottest cars on the road.

Brought to the public mind in Pixar's masterpiece, CARS, the Hudson Hornet is now easily recognized by all ages. It was no accident it was chosen to play the role of an 'old and aging car with a winning past in racing history. It was the real life experience of the innovative, light and powerful car.'

In Our Shop - 1961 Nash Metropolitan

A customer asked if we could work on a non-running 50 year old car. The answer was out in our service bay, a '52 Hudson Hornet. We explained the work performed and when he heard it run, excitedly revealed he'd bought a '61 Metropolitan on impulse with un-specified problems. Satisfied with the quality and prices of jobs on his other cars, it was towed to us the next day.

First was to give it a full inspection and work up a list of parts required and a plan of progression to insure work was prioritized to save money if too much for the budget. We decided to test the electrical, rebuild the carburetor. Soon the engine turned over but was unable to start. Optimistic about the car moving, our next concern was stopping.

Complete inspection of the brakes revealed a full re-build plus a new master cylinder was needed. The cute little was placed on our "when you get around to it" list and will roll out the door after we've added undercoating to this fairly rust free car. The owner looks forward to replacing the taillights and a few things to finish the interior where mice taking up residence in the headliner himself.
