When I bought my first Les Paul I wasn't fully aware of who he was. I bought the guitar because it was great looking and felt even better. The neck was incredibly long, action low and fast. I was all about playing fast, cool licks. I wanted to be a lead guitar player someday in a band.
Learning to play the guitar, I noticed an influence from tunes heard on the radio in my childhood. My Mom must have be a fan of Les Paul and Mary Ford. I recall "Mockingbird Hill" and others.
As a tinkerer in sound, electronics and expressing myself on the guitar, I think I understand something about his soul.
His life speaks volumes and I won't attempt to try to confine him to this small space. I just want to say, "Thanks, Les for being who you are and helping all of us be more of who we are. Let's get together and jam someday. |
