My list of 'Stuff to do one day' has just become shorter but one day doesn't cover it. Actually, I was at AirVenture 2009 in Oshkosh, WI two full, long and tiresome days and hardly scratched the surface of what there was to experience.
With no credientials, a video camera, and a few spare batteries, I set about for opportunities as they presented themselves. I am not the best planner. In situations like Oshkosh, this may have been the only way to cover it. A few things occurred that proved to me that I would have missed some of my best material had I tried to perform a scheduled shoot.
The Virgin Galactic 'Eve', or White Knight Two was designed to carry rocket-launch vehicles capable of putting into orbit satellites of up to 200 kilograms-and at much lower costs than current launch technologies-opening space to a new range of satellite applications.
The company's current funding, however, supports only its first objective, offering civilians suborbital flights. Recent investments will allow Virgin Galactic to begin developing its satellite launch capability. |
