I Love Indiana Beach...

Hello... My name is Allan Ierardi (eye-rar'-dee) and I love Indiana Beach. I've wanted for a long time to share my passion for the Monticello area but wasn't exactly sure how. While looking online for current information about Indiana Beach last year, I ended up searching, clicking and encountering endless computer generated pages with little or nothing useful. I decided to create complete this guide to Lake Shafer vacations and surrounding area. When the site is fully fuctional, all advertising will be local and promote the many goods and services Monticello visitors want and need.

It started for me when I lived in the dressing room at the ballroom for the entire 1963 season. It's now revealed 46 years later as an interesting chapter in my life. Imagine, 16 years old and playing guitar six nights a week in the beach house band. The money wasn't enough to pay for lodging, even back then. Ask any musician. Now don't think bad of the band leader or beach management. They didn't know!

The band, left to right, saxman 1, saxman2, saxman3 (sorry about that, can't recall their names), Dick Halleman (sax, vocals), Libby Halleman (piano, vocals), Tommy McCormick (drums, Tom Baker (trumpet, bass), Al Ierardi (behind the back guitar), Dick Dilling (behind the neck guitar) and Ray Cork (trumpet, bass). I worked with this band from the fall of '62 through the winter of '63. We played just about every ballroom and country club in central Illinois and Indiana.
